Mom walking down the hall with her physical therapist is what I saw when I got there today! She was doing so good. Much better than the past few days. She ate a great lunch with me and knew who I was. She was able to have somewhat of a conversation with minimal random talk. The nurse said she had her out of the bed in her wheelchair folding wash cloths and she seemed to enjoy being given this task. I kept her in her chair as well and when I left I had her doing a word search......in which she had already found 2 words (one was backwards)! This afternoon and evening went really well. I showed her pictures and she did great with recognition and she is reading just fine by the way (a lot of people who survive have to relearn that). She ate well for Johnny as well as read the poster board (twice) we made for her. (Thanks Tony for the great idea). It says: my name is....my birthday is...I was born in..... but now I am living here in....my husband is.....my daughter is.....etc. She was calm and they had a conversation with minimal nonsense talk. She was worn out but I think she enjoyed her day and we certainly enjoyed seeing her more like herself.
Wow! I am so glad to hear you guys figured out the main cause of the problem. Go Gaye!
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL seeing Gaye up & walking -- vast improvement daily, very exciting! Angie & Johnnie, ya'll are well on top of things and letting nothing fall thru the cracks -- gotta keep tabs at all times. Unbelievable that the doc is not more involved -- thank heavens the nurses are fantastic. Go team!
ReplyDeleteSending some old pics that we have in a small album; will probably not get them mailed til Monday.
Love ya'll -- we do pray for all of ya'll daily
